Job Description
The role
To support the transition of our existing road fleet and enable the growth of a new, purely EV road service by ensuring optimised provision of charging facilities across European DPW owned and leased facilities. Enable the growth of our new electric vehicle road freight product to 1,000 trucks and transitioning our existing fleet of 800 vehicles by 2030.
The role holder will work with stakeholders and functions across the European region to
- identify, define and prioritise requirements for eHGV charging facilities and their preferred locations.
- identify constraints, difficulties and restrictions on rolling out the required provision and identify and put in place the required solutions.
- Understand property related constraints at desired charging locations and advise where mitigation or alternatives are required.
They’ll support the transition of our own fleet to EV by 2030, third party to EV by 2040 and enable the growth of up to 1,000 new vehicles in Europe by 2030 as a pure EV road product.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of EV road freight
- Support road operations in the transition of our existing fleet to EV by 2030
- Support road operations in the development of a new, pure EV road offer, delivering services over the following scenarios;
- Port drayage
- Short distance logistics (under 150kms)
- Long distance logistics (over 150kms)
- Support real estate teams with the identification of suitable charging locations and truck parking for EV vehicles
- Work with procurement to identify the correct charger types needed to deliver existing and future road freight services and products
- Manage projects in European road freight and connect different stakeholders and teams to deliver the eHGV charging solutions.
- Identify partners and opportunities for subsidies and government programmes we can participate in.
Work with the PM for EV road freight transition and growth to understand and facilitate the planned rollout of eHGV across the European road fleet.
So, who are we looking for?
Key Responsibilities And Skills Needed Are
- Knowledge of European road freight and operations
- You must have completed the two years of the European GROW programme.
- Understanding and experience of implementing EV truck solutions in both a growth and transition situations.
- An understanding and knowledge of OEM strategies with their electric road freight products is desirable but can be learnt in role.
- An understanding of existing and upcoming eHGV charging technology, requirements and standards is desirable but can be learnt in role.
- An understanding and knowledge of building and site level electrical grid supply capacity and constraints, and potential solutions is desirable, but can be learnt in role.
- Knowledge of/Experience with corporate environmental strategies and topics such as climate change
- A strong passion for, and understanding of, sustainability issues, with some knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting
- Understanding of existing and emerging broader ESG reporting protocols
- Strong project management, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience leading teams and developing people
- Ability to move quickly and balance multiple tasks at once; Calm under pressure
- Ability to connect key sustainability knowledge into business topics
