Project Support Officer

Allen Lane are proud to be supporting the London Borough of Newham in their search to appoint a Project Support Officer on a permanent basis. This is a great opportunity to join the borough’s forward-thinking DDaT (Digital, Data and Technology) service and play a key role in the successful delivery of projects that support real, meaningful change for Newham’s residents and staff. This role sits in the Delivery and Oversight tower that ensures the effective integration of delivery, risk management and strategic governance across the whole DDaT Function. If the ‘A’ in DDaT could be its own definition it would be ‘Assurance’. Delivery and Oversight is crucial to help create and drive a culture in DDaT of performance, innovation and continuous improvement and inspire new ways of working for the rest of the Council.

The role

As the Project Support Officer, you will:

• Support the delivery of digital and technology projects across the Council
• Maintain project documentation, coordinate schedules, and monitor budgets, risks and issues
• Facilitate governance activities such as meetings, reporting and stakeholder engagement
• Work closely with Project Managers and stakeholders to ensure project goals are met
• Help embed good project management practices, tools and methodologies across the team
• Contribute to Newham’s wider transformation work by enabling well-run, people-centred projects

Key skills required

As a Project Support Officer, you will bring:

• Experience supporting multiple concurrent projects in a complex IT or public sector environment
• A working knowledge of project management frameworks such as Agile or PRINCE2
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to maintain control over project tracking and documentation
• Great communication and relationship-building skills, with a proactive approach to stakeholder engagement
• A team-first mindset with a structured, detail-oriented and solutions-focused approach
• A commitment to delivering inclusive, user-centred services that reflect Newham’s values
