Role Description
We’re growing and we’re looking for a talented Property & Casualty Underwriter to be part of our successful Birmingham team. A fantastic opportunity to shape your career in insurance.
Our Underwriters are at the forefront of key broker relationships and your role and skillset will be dedicated to the continued development of our ever growing account through the retention of existing business and a hunger to write and win new business.
All roles will support business targets in relation to the servicing of Broker and Client accounts, and queries, ensuring you support and underwrite within your authority in order to deliver an excellent customer journey.
Job Duties
- Building strong relationships with brokers, negotiating effectively, and providing excellent customer service at all times.
- Working as part of a close-knit team to offer renewal terms and new business quotations before deadlines, along with mid-term adjustments, survey preparation, and other types of policy transaction as needed.
- Thorough checking and issuing of documents to clients.
- Learning about different areas of the business from industry-leading Underwriters
- Support the wider teams by being proactive, enthusiastic and by challenging yourself to go out of your comfort zone.
- Provide suggestions to continuously improve the business in an ever-changing environment
Salary Information
Pay: Circa £38,500
Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.
About You
You will have an understanding of how to approach the evaluation of risks, as well as how to foster strong relationships with our broker clients.
You’ll have the opportunity to develop a range of technical, commercial, and operational skills that are vital to your development and the business.
You will become a key part of a team that will support you to accelerate your development. You will work closely alongside Senior underwriters in a culture that is passionate about developing you. You will get underwriting exposure to a number of lines of business and there is great scope for progression.
Essential Skills
- Previous experience in Property and Casualty within a Underwriting capacity.
- Existing CII qualification or a commitment to progressing towards CII qualifications is necessary for working within this technical team
- Passion about your development
- Taking initiative and being proactive within a team
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and good analytical skills
- Good decision-making skills
- Good organisation skills
