Property Lawyer
PO5: Salary rage between £52,674 and £55,710 per annum plus a market supplement of £5,000 per annum rising up to £10,000 pa (dependent upon experience).
In addition to the salary, we offer legally qualified new starters a welcome bonus of £5,000, payable 50% after 6 months and 50% after 12 months in the role.

About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Council’s legal department for a Property Lawyer to join our team.
We are seeking a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (or equivalent), with extensive property law experience preferably in the public sector.
This is a varied role. The successful candidate will be expected to manage a busy and challenging caseload comprising mainly of commercial property work and some residential property instructions. You must be highly organised, proactive, and flexible, able to work under pressure, manage competing deadlines, and operate both as part of a team and autonomously.
You will be responsible for advising on commercial and residential property matters, handling pre-action property litigation, particularly handling landlord and tenant notices, and assisting the Senior Lawyer in ensuring the Council receives cost-effective, high-quality advice and representation.
You must be experienced in property law and practice, including commercial conveyancing, residential transactions, and the negotiation and preparation of complex documentation such as development and overage agreements, telecommunications and substation leases, wayleaves, easements, title reports, and other landlord and tenant matters, as well as disposals and acquisitions.
You will be skilled at drafting and negotiating a variety of legal documents and correspondence, providing specialist legal advice, gathering and analysing information to support actions, and managing the administration associated with pre-action litigation.
You must be competent at legal research and comfortable dealing directly with clients, internal and external stakeholders, including other local authorities, government departments, solicitors, barristers and Secretaries of State.
