The Role…
Reporting into the Publishing Systems Manager, the PS Engineer is responsible for the support and development of the publishing system environment, working with end users to maximise the effectiveness of the censhare system through configuration, training and knowledge sharing. Supporting all aspects of the Magazine creative workflow including print and digital outputs.
Managing and developing the back-end Linux and Windows servers (AWS) to ensure availability and cost effectiveness are maximised. Configuration and maintenance of the OneVision Workspace (Asura & Amendo) automation systems & configuration and user support for the Monotype desktop app font management solution.
It is a crucial role working with the system providers (censhare, Onevision, Monotype and AWS), and the Hearst technology services department (HTS), to ensure that the system remains at optimum performance at all times.
Main Duties…
General administration
- Troubleshooting editorial workflow in a timely manner.
- System Updates, coding & SQL (testing/go-live planning)
- Configuration management through GIT
User Support/Training
- General support (Best practice, Inhouse Repro), s upporting editorial users to resolve production problems.
- Censhare – User induction training and support
- Adobe apps (support, how to)
- MacOS Providing high level user support and guidance across all roles and business units Maintaining internal Wiki site.
Development
- Engage in projects and development work, planning and implementation. Update deployment and rollout.
Desktop Fonts license management
- Quotes to business users
- Business process/legal rules enforcement
- Purchase management
- Monotype (setup, management, font data, licensing info)
System maintenance:
- Linux & Windows administration.
- Management & troubleshooting of 3 rd party applications
- Renderer Clients (InDesign Server 2025 / Widows server 2019)
- Management of Mac Mini servers (macOS, applications and fonts)

- Strong interpersonal skills required to demonstrate empathy and support to the business users

- Flexible in their approach allowing priorities to change with the needs of the business
- Ability to multitask – working on a variety of different projects at the same time
- Confident to challenge the status quo
- Experience in user support & software configuration
- Knowledge of DAM/CMS
- Knowledge of cloud services
