Role: Puppet Engineer

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Length: 6 Months (Extensions Likely)

Work Location: Remote

IR35 Status: Inside

Industry: Government

Our client is seeking a Puppet Specialist to design, implement, and support automation solutions using Puppet Enterprise. This role will work closely with customers, internal teams, and the wider open-source community to enable faster, more reliable software delivery, deliver training, and contribute to product development and integration efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

Work directly with customers to design and implement automation solutions with Puppet.
Deliver Puppet training and workshops, ensuring content accuracy with evolving products and customer needs.
Provide pre-sales technical support to Sales & Marketing teams.
Develop, publish, and maintain Puppet modules and related products.
Design and promote integration tooling for Puppet products.
Collaborate with R&D and Product Management on product development and testing.
Contribute technical blogs and other communications to support the Puppet community.

Required Skills & Experience:

Solid experience with Puppet Enterprise.
5+ years’ experience in DevOps, Systems Administration, Automation, or Network Infrastructure.
Strong Unix/Linux system administration and automation skills.
Excellent time and project management abilities.
Strong customer relations and presentation skills, with experience engaging customers in person, by phone, and via virtual meetings.
Logical problem-solving skills to evaluate alternative solutions.
Technical degree (CS/IT/Engineering/IT Security) or equivalent experience.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

Puppet Certification(s)
Programming skills in Ruby, Python, Go, or similar.
Windows systems administration experience, including PowerShell.
Large-scale infrastructure experience.
Knowledge of data centre, systems management, monitoring, networking, and security.
Professional services experience in an open-source enterprise software company.
