Contract type: Contractor

Contract Start Date: 25th August 2025

Contract End Date: 27th Feb 2026

Working days: 131 days

Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £500-£600 daily rate

Location: London, Leeds or Birmingham

WFH policy: Employees are required to attend the office 2 days/week

Reports to: Technical and Governance Lead

Role Summary:

As a QA Engineer reporting to the Lead QA Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software systems and applications. You will collaborate closely with the Lead QA Engineer, development teams, and other stakeholders to implement effective testing strategies and drive continuous improvement in testing processes. Your expertise in testing methodologies, automation, and quality assurance will be instrumental in delivering high-quality software products.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Test Planning and Execution: Collaborate with the Lead QA Engineer and development teams to define test strategies, test plans, and test cases based on project requirements and user stories. Execute test cases and document test results thoroughly.
  2. Test Automation: Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts to increase testing efficiency and coverage. Collaborate with the Lead QA Engineer to establish and improve the test automation framework.
  3. Defect Management: Identify, report, and track defects, working closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution and retesting.
  4. Continuous Testing: Work with the development team and the Lead QA Engineer to integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline, enabling continuous testing and regression testing.
  5. Performance and Load Testing: Conduct performance and load testing to assess system responsiveness, stability, and scalability.
  6. Non-Functional Testing: Participate in non-functional testing activities, such as security, accessibility, and usability testing.
  7. Test Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive test documentation, including test plans, test cases, and test reports.
  8. Test Environment Management: Collaborate with the Lead QA Engineer and development teams to set up and maintain testing environments.
  9. Test Data Management: Ensure the availability of test data and manage test data sets for different testing scenarios.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Must Have:

  1. Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in software testing, test automation, and quality assurance.
  2. Hands-on experience in test planning, test case design, and test execution.
  3. Strong knowledge of test automation tools and frameworks, such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar.
  4. Experience with scripting languages, such as Python, Java, or JavaScript, for test automation.
  5. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integrating automated tests into the development workflow.

Desirable:

  1. Knowledge of performance testing tools, such as JMeter, Gatling, or LoadRunner.
  2. Experience in security testing methodologies and tools.
  3. Understanding of accessibility testing standards and practices.
