The Role
The Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst plays a vital role in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality IT and business change initiatives across Gateley. Working within a diverse portfolio of over 50 concurrent projects and programmes, the QA Analyst supports initiatives that contribute to strategic growth, enhanced client service, and increased profitability.
This role is responsible for designing and executing test cases, identifying defects, and validating that solutions meet business requirements and quality standards. Gateley operates a hybrid delivery methodology, with a growing emphasis on iterative and agile practices. The QA Analyst will work across multiple projects simultaneously, including regulatory, technology-led, and process improvement initiatives, while also contributing to continuous improvement in testing practices and outcomes.
The QA Analyst collaborates closely with Business Analysts, developers, project managers, and stakeholders across the business to ensure that quality is embedded throughout the delivery lifecycle. A strong attention to detail, curiosity, and a proactive mindset are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify test conditions and develop detailed test suites, test cases, and test scripts based on business requirements and technical specifications.
- Perform all phases of testing, including static, functional, regression, integration, system, SIT (System Integration Testing), and UAT (User Acceptance Testing).
- Apply various test techniques such as boundary value analysis, static reviews, and decision tables to create test artefacts.
- Provide input and support with Business Readiness activities to ensure successful implementation and deliveries of business change initiatives.
- Utilise tools such as DevOps to identify, document and track software defects
- Collaborate with developers, product managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure quality standards are met.
- Liaise between business stakeholders, business analysts, project managers, development teams, and third-party vendors to support the delivery of IT solutions.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, tailoring language and detail appropriately.
- Analyse test results and provide actionable feedback to improve product quality.
- Ensure compliance with QA standards, processes, and best practices.
- Enhance the testing process through continuous improvement initiatives, project retrospectives, and lessons learned activities.
- Provide quality assurance throughout all stages of the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, and testing.
- Collaborate with IT and project teams to ensure environments are fit for purpose, available when needed, and aligned with project delivery timelines.
- Take ownership of test data management by designing, preparing, and maintaining relevant datasets to support comprehensive and accurate testing across multiple environments. Ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with organisational policies throughout the testing lifecycle.
- Support the Change department during release periods and project implementations.
- Support the Change team with the test process, including the creation and review of test schedules, test scripting, defect management, and peer reviews.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures throughout the quality assurance lifecycle.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Quality Assurance function that seek to improve collaboration with the business, internal support teams and enhance ways of working.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at one time, pro-active prioritisation, management and planning of own diary and ensuring work is completed to approved deadlines.
- Provide hands-on training and feedback, encouraging learning through pairing, shadowing, and structured development plans.
The Team
You’ll be joining a newly established Quality Assurance, within the Business Change Department. Led by the Quality Assurance Manager, the team is focused on building strong foundations for testing excellence, ensuring that quality is embedded throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Working within the Business Change Department, the Quality Assurance function plays a key role in supporting strategic initiatives by enabling reliable, efficient, and fit-for-purpose solutions. The team contributes to a wide range of projects—from regulatory compliance to technology-led transformation—by applying structured testing approaches, identifying risks early, managing defect resolution and validating business outcomes.
Collaboration is central to how the team operates, partnering closely with the Change Department, IT support services, and third-party vendors to ensure that testing is aligned with business needs and delivery timelines. The team also supports continuous improvement by refining testing practices, introducing automation where appropriate, and sharing knowledge across the wider department.

Collaboration and CommunicationThe Quality Assurance Analyst must demonstrate strong communication skills across a range of formats and audiences—whether clarifying requirements with stakeholders, documenting test outcomes, or reporting defects to development teams.
Effective communication is essential to support continuous improvement and ensure that quality standards are upheld throughout the delivery lifecycle. QA Analysts also engage with third-party vendors and service providers where appropriate, ensuring that testing activities are aligned with delivery expectations and contribute to successful project outcomes.
Tools and MethodologiesThe Quality Assurance Analyst operates within Gateley’s hybrid delivery framework, with increasing adoption of iterative and agile practices. Proficiency in Azure DevOps is essential, as it serves as the primary platform for managing test cases, tracking defects, and collaborating across delivery teams.
While manual testing remains a core responsibility, Gateley is actively exploring test automation to enhance efficiency and coverage. Familiarity with automation tools such as Selenium and Playwright is advantageous, as the automation strategy evolves.
A strong understanding of structured testing approaches, test planning, execution techniques, and defect lifecycle management is required, alongside a commitment to continuous improvement in quality assurance practices.
