Join Us in Shaping the Future of Social Services

Are you a former teacher, social worker or social care practitioner looking for a rewarding role with a more balanced pace? Do you have a passion for listening to children and adults, making sure their voices lead to real change? We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a compassionate and experienced professional to work closely with senior managers, frontline staff, and partner agencies to champion quality assurance and continuous improvement across Social Services.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the development and refinement of policies and procedures
  • Provide expert guidance to ensure high standards in service delivery
  • Promote meaningful engagement with children, young people and adults
  • Help ensure their voices are heard and reflected in the services we provide
  • Creating high-quality, visually engaging reports using Canva or similar design tools.

This is a chance to make a lasting impact—without the intensity of frontline work—by helping shape services that truly meet the needs of children, adults and families. If you're ready to bring your experience, insight, and heart to a role that values thoughtful change and collaboration, we’d love to hear from you.

Ambitious: Forward thinking, embracing new ways of working and investing in our future.

Open: Open to different ideas and being accountable for the decisions we take.

Together: Working together as a team that engages with our customers and partners, respects diversity and is committed to quality services.

Proud: Proud of the Vale of Glamorgan; proud to serve our communities and to be part of the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

About The Role

Pay Details: Grade 7, SCP 20 - 25, £31,586 - £35,235 per annum

Hours of Work: 37 hrs per week

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday

Main Place of Work: Docks Offices, Barry

Description: This post will support consultation and engagement with citizens, practitioners and partners and will be required to ensure continual overview and delivery of relevant up to date policies and procedures.

About You

You will need:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of policies, with the ability to apply this thinking to drive quality assurance and engage stakeholders in continuous service improvement.
  • Experience of project and business development delivery, with a focus on quality assurance consultation and working collaboratively with senior managers, staff, and partner agencies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the Social Services & Well-being (Wales) Act 2014, and the current statutory policy context in which the Council and its partner organisations operate.
  • Strong organisational skills, including the ability to arrange meetings and events, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with staff at all levels of the organisation and build collaborative relationships.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach, with a willingness to learn new skills and approaches. While prior experience in social services or the third sector is advantageous, we welcome applicants who have relevant skills working with children, adults, or in other service settings, even if their direct experience is limited.
