An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quality Assurance Technician with previous experience in a combination of web, desktop, or API software testing to join our dynamic and well-established development team at Winterflood Business Services.
This challenging and extremely rewarding role would suit a self-motivated innovative individual, with a passion for quality control, evolutionary technologies, shared learning, and interest in the financial services sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to create Test strategies, detailing a test approach and identify risks and dependencies to the completion of the test phase.
- To develop & maintain test cases against Business requirements without requiring supervision of a Senior member of the team.
- To execute test cases and capture appropriate evidence during testing, utilising development tools within the Team to execute E2E test scenarios.
- The ability to effectively execute regression suites during both QA and Staging cycles and contribute to the development of the regression pack, making inclusions and adjustments where appropriate.
- The appropriate raising of defects and communicate to the project their severity and drive defect resolutions.
- To create reporting dashboards in JIRA and communicate to key stakeholders the position of the test phase. In addition, provide clear updates on test execution progress to the Senior QA and Release Manager (where needed).
- To develop a detailed understanding across multiple areas of Winterflood estate and the Business functionality incorporated within it and proactively closing knowledge gaps.
- To develop an understanding of the technology used within the Business and how the service architecture is built to support the test execution processes.
- To be able to effectively produce automated test cases through a GUI that produces accurate and repeatable scenarios. To contribute to the maintenance and quality control of the test automation suite through peer reviews.
- Ability to help support and drive change towards an automated testing ecosystem, engaging with peers within the QA team and wider product streams to achieve this.
- Ability to support the senior QA technician in all test planning, execution, and prioritisation.
- Reporting into the Senior QA, ensuring full engagement and support is provided through daily activities and delivery.
- Ability to communicate clearly, concisely across a wide range of stakeholders.
- Ability to raise issues around technical builds assisting with defect management and risks associated with build elements.
Essential Skills & Experience
- To have a detailed understanding of the responsibilities of Quality Assurance; being aware of the importance of Integration, Regression, UI & Exploratory testing and have at least 2 years’
- To have a detailed understanding of test management tools such as Zephyr / JIRA / Confluence and identify where processes can be improved by providing examples or demonstrations of a new or updated tool / process based on their independent research.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to deliver messages to Business stakeholders.
- The ability to be able to manage multiple workstreams effectively without a reduction in the quality of work.
- To ensure clarity to others on the position of each work item and regularly seeking to support the Senior QA by showing a willing to take on additional tasks.
- To be able to identify blockers and seek to resolve them through support of peers or key stakeholders, only escalating to a Senior member of the team once attempts to resolve the issue have been exhausted.
Desired Experience & Skills
- Experience in the Finance industry
- An understanding of, or experience in Test Automation including using a programming or coding language to support automation.
- Knowledge of financial markets, especially within the Equity and Fixed income asset classes.
- Knowledge of existing QA/testing tools, working in .NET/Javascript.
- Awareness of test automation best practices and application of these.
- Experience of using JIRA and Zephyr for creating test cases.
- ISTQB qualified.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal with stakeholders at various levels.
- Computer Science / IT degree or equivalent.
