POSITION OVERVIEW 

Reporting to the production manager, the Quality Controller will ensure the quality of all finished products, raw materials, labelling, and packaging. The role includes monitoring and evaluating internal production processes, examining products to determine their quality, and ensuring all company products meet quality standards before they go to market. This role will also engage with customers and suppliers to gather product feedback and address non-conformances.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with industry-specific quality standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
• Stay up to date on changes in regulations and standards that affect production processes.
• Measure performance against internal and external standards, including but not limited to GMP, Soil Association, ISO22716, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) requirements.

Quality Assurance:  

• Develop, implement and manage quality control procedures, standards, and inspection processes to maintain product quality.
• Inspect the quality of raw materials used in production.
• Ensure quality for all finished products.
• Conduct quality process checks for all incoming deliveries and goods.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Investigate product recalls, provide root cause analysis, and recommend changes required.
• Improve production efficiency and manage waste.
• Ensure that each product specification is followed and report any anomalies immediately.
• Calibrate measuring equipment and test variables.

Defect Analysis and Resolution:

• Investigate and address quality-related issues, defects, and non-conformities.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality.
• Monitor and evaluate internal production processes, reporting any equipment defects immediately to the Production / Operations Manager.
• Evaluate the final output of products to determine quality, rejecting any that fail to meet standards

Testing and Inspection:

• Oversee product testing and inspection procedures to verify compliance with specifications.
• Monitor and report on the results of quality tests and inspections.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of quality control activities and production data.
• Generate quality reports and communicate quality performance to relevant stakeholders.
• Report quality standard Issues to the production manager.
• Write reports on test results and product observations.
• Complete required paperwork accurately.

Supplier Quality Management:

• Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components.
• Evaluate and audit suppliers for quality performance.

Customer Satisfaction:

• Understand customer expectations and product requirements.
• Focus on meeting or exceeding customer expectations by delivering high-quality products on time.
• Address customer complaints and quality-related issues promptly and effectively.

Other

• Conduct production quality training, including regular refresher/update training as required.
• Assist in internal and external audits as needed.
• Maintain high levels of work performance, including attendance and timekeeping.
• Maintain records and samples of all batches manufactured.
• Coordinate the printing of product labels for the production floor
• Monitor operations to ensure production standards are met.

REQUIREMENTS 

• Experience in quality control within a production environment, preferably in the health and beauty industry.

• Understanding of Soil Association, GMP, ISO22716, and HACCP standards.

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.

• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and report anomalies promptly.

• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with a team.

• Ability to work independently while adhering to established guidelines and processes.
