Purpose of the role:
The role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with product and process specifications while supporting and leading the resolution of quality issues arising from non‑conformances through structured 8D methodologies, driving investigations through to effective and sustainable closure. You will play a key role in continuous improvement by helping to implement new systems and processes aligned with the overall quality and business strategy, while taking ownership of day‑to‑day supplier quality topics and resolution. The position works closely with Manufacturing to ensure products and processes meet all product specification and quality management system requirements, creating and supporting internal PPAPs, control plan releases, and process audit schemes driven by risk.
You will analyse production data to monitor process stability and capability, investigate non‑conformances, and implement corrective and preventative actions using appropriate quality tools. The role also involves promoting a strong quality culture through training and visual management, supporting and automating KPI reporting across Quality and the wider business, and contributing to the development of metrology equipment and measurement techniques to improve QC laboratory efficiency. In addition, you will support Goods Inwards, metrology, and inks quality control activities, while leading supplier quality issues and ensuring timely, effective resolution.
Knowledge and skills required for the role:
· Experienced in manufacturing processes.
· Must have sound understanding of the 8d process and tools used to help establish root cause (Ishikawa, Red X, …)
· Ideally degree qualified or HNC with additional experience in engineering or manufacturing discipline.
· Fully conversant with engineering and quality principles (core quality tools, including but not limited to SPC, Gauge R&R, DoE, sampling plans, NPI)
· Familiar with range of measuring and inspection equipment and can interpret engineering drawings and specifications
· Excellent computer skills
· Strong statistical knowledge with advanced use of statistical software such as Minitab and practical use of statistical process control
· Experience in Supplier Management and Issue Resolution
· Solves complex problems and takes a new perspective on existing solutions
· Has advanced and specialised expertise, typically developed through a combination of job-related training and considerable work experience
· Works autonomously within established procedures and practices
· Proposes improvements to processes
