Job Purpose

To strategically lead the organisations approach to Quality, Environmental compliance by developing, embedding, and continuously improving a central Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO, MCS, PAS 2030 and other statutory or industry-specific standards.

The postholder will take full ownership of all company-wide accreditations, including MCS, PAS 2030, ISO 9001/14001, TrustMark, Gas Safe and others, ensuring continued compliance and readiness for external audits. While not responsible for transactional compliance activity, the role will oversee the governance and quality assurance framework and work closely with operational teams and the PAS Compliance Team to support delivery teams, guide internal audit programmes, and drive consistent quality standards.

This role is ideal for someone with in-depth industry experience in retrofit, construction, or building services, and a solid understanding of scheme and sector-specific compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic oversight of all company accreditations and certifications, including PAS 2030, MCS, ISO 9001/14001, TrustMark, and other statutory or voluntary schemes.

Own and manage the companys central QMS, ensuring it aligns with business objectives and provides a consistent framework for quality and compliance across all operations.

Act as the companys subject matter expert in ISO, PAS 2030 and MCS, supporting readiness for audit, installer compliance, and scheme requirements.

Lead the annual programme of internal audits, surveillance visits and external inspections, ensuring all functions and regions are prepared and supported, and that findings are resolved through structured action plans.

Work in partnership with the PAS Compliance Team (Nottingham), providing oversight, support, and strategic direction while they manage day-to-day compliance, lodgements, and documentation.

Develop and maintain a compliance framework that covers both reactive and planned works across all business areas, including heating, insulation, and renewable energy measures.

Liaise with scheme owners, certification bodies, auditors, and external stakeholders to maintain good standing across all regulatory frameworks and accreditations.

Ensure that installation methods, training programs, and supply chain controls meet the expectations of ISO, PAS 2030, MCS, and funding bodies.

Review, develop, and implement company policies and procedures to ensure they remain compliant with current legislation, accreditation criteria, and best practice.

Establish and manage document control systems to ensure that all QMS documentation is accurately maintained, updated, and readily accessible.

Chair internal Quality and Compliance working groups, and contribute to senior leadership discussions on risk, performance, and strategy.

Act as the business lead for compliance with ISO standards, ensuring continuous improvement, alignment with business goals, and preparedness for re-certification or transition audits.

Ensure a strong internal culture of quality assurance and accountability, with embedded processes for escalation, review, and learning.

Lead the organisations environmental compliance and improvement agenda, including oversight of annual GHG emissions reporting, supporting SECR compliance, and maintaining alignment with ISO 14001.

Drive the companys Net Zero strategy, working across departments to develop realistic action plans, monitor progress, and ensure sustainability is embedded into operational and strategic decision-making.

Support the ongoing development of data protection practices as Data Protection Officer (DPO), ensuring GDPR compliance in collaboration with internal departments.

Lead a team of compliance professionals, providing coaching and development, and working across functions to embed quality values in deliveryteams.

Skills/Qualifications

Proven experience of maintaining and managing company-level accreditations such as PAS 2030, MCS, ISO 9001 & 14001.

Strong understanding of the retrofit, construction, or energy efficiency sector, with experience working under TrustMark or similar schemes.

Internal or Lead Auditor qualification in ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001.

Demonstrated ability to develop, implement and govern QMS across multi-site or multi-service businesses.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across departments and influencing senior leadership.

Ability to work strategically to drive improvement and ensure audit-readiness across business units.
