About iSAM

Formed in 2008, iSAM is an alternative investment manager specialising in systematic investing. The management team has amassed over 150 years of combined experience within the quantitative alternative investment space.

The group is comprised of three businesses; iSAM Vector, iSAM Helix and iSAM Securities. Over the course of the past few years, iSAM has focused its internal efforts on forging the high grade research, operations and client service functionalities necessary to cater to institutional clients, while maintaining the cultural respect for risk and best-of-breed, strategy specific research.

The Role

By engaging in a variety of projects and work with different people, you will have the opportunity to learn new systems and technologies.

As you gain experience you will be expected to specialise in one of these key areas of our process and be responsible for:

• Idea generation
• Quantitative research and data analysis
• Code development and testing
• Presentation of results and actionable conclusions to the team and senior management
• Ongoing monitoring of models and tools

Experience / Skills

We are looking for someone who has completed or be completing a PhD in Hard Science, i.e. Statistics, Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence, Math, Physics.

We expect the following skills:

• We are using cutting edge statistical techniques; therefore, you’ll need to have already a deep understanding of statistics and machine learning. We also value any contribution to the field during your PhD studies such as: papers, software projects, etc.
• As well, to develop and participate in our strategies, strong mathematical foundations and a solid understanding of linear algebra and calculus are required.
• We are talking the language of coding, in order to communicate together and express your ideas you’ll need to have good programming skills with Python.
• We value collaboration and teamwork, this means we are searching for someone with a strong work ethic, highly organised, who is attentive to details and motivated.
