Quantity Surveyor

Ealing Council have exciting new full-time, permanent positions for a Quantity Surveyor. Our housing asset management team is dedicated to ensuring decent, healthy, and sustainable homes for the future of our community.

The Quantity Surveyor role will oversee commercial management by implementing effective cost control measures for external contractors, ensuring financial efficiency and accountability.

As the Quantity Surveyor you will:

• ensure accurate measurement of all works to maintain accuracy in project execution.
• provide detailed estimates, paying particular attention to time allocation and materials.
• conduct precise valuations of works and any variations to ensure financial accuracy.
• undertake detailed cost analysis, options appraisals, and provide recommendations to optimise project costs.
• manage commercial rates, ensuring colleagues and contractors use relevant rates and agreed evaluation methods.
• conduct comprehensive analysis and financial management of all contracts to ensure fiscal responsibility.
• collaborate with the head of service and managers to develop the budget, ensuring it meets project requirements.
• audit contractor’s financial claims, decide on appropriate evaluation methods, and assess accurate values due to contractors, and address any inaccuracies or omissions.

Our ideal Quantity Surveyor will have skills and experience that includes:

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar commercial qualification
• Chartered Member of Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or other recognised related bodies such as Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply
• Knowledge of Building Regulations, EU Procurement Directive, methods of measurement, and associated legislation, as well as relevant national, regional, and local policies.
• Comprehensive knowledge of schedule of rates and work valuation methods and principles.
• Knowledge of procurement options and the various conditions of contract that are in use.
