With millions of visitors each year, The Royal Parks plays a vital role in preserving some of the capital's most iconic landscapes and heritage assets for future generations.
We are now recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join the organisation on a 2-year fixed-term contract, supporting a wide range of works and capital projects across the Royal Parks estate.
The RoleReporting to the Senior Project Manager, this role offers the opportunity to be involved across the full RIBA stages, providing cost management, procurement and contract administration expertise across a diverse portfolio of projects. While the primary focus will be supporting the Works department, you will also contribute QS advice to wider directorate activity, including capital projects.
This is a hands-on role, requiring a strong on-site presence and close collaboration with internal teams, contractors and professional consultants.
Prepare cost estimates, budgets and bills of quantities
Develop schedules of works in collaboration with cross-functional teams and through on-site assessments
Track project costs, forecast expenditure, and manage variations and change control
Prepare and administer tender and contract documentation
Evaluate completed works and arrange interim and final payments
Provide advice on procurement strategies, contractual claims and dispute resolution
Carry out feasibility studies, risk assessments and value engineering exercises
Monitor project progress, cost control and financial performance
Undertake site inspections and produce regular cost and progress reports
Ensure compliance with legal, safety, quality and contractual standards
Liaise with contractors, consultants, stakeholders and statutory bodies
You will be a qualified or nearly qualified Quantity Surveyor with strong technical knowledge and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.
Essential:
Degree-level qualification (or equivalent experience) in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
RICS qualification or working towards chartership
Proven experience in cost planning, estimating, procurement and contract administration
Working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts
Strong report writing, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills
Ability to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines
Desirable:
Experience working with listed or heritage assets
Knowledge of public sector procurement processes
