As a Quantum Application Scientist at Aegiq, you will play a pivotal role in building scalable, high-impact solutions at the forefront of quantum computing. You'll collaborate with experts in quantum algorithms, materials informatics, computational physics, and chemistry to develop novel approaches for quantum systems simulation and modelling. We're looking for a creative and curious individual with strong coding expertise (e.g., python, Julia, C, or C++) deep understanding of computational methodologies, and an interest in developing practical quantum software solutions. Familiarity with quantum information science, fault-tolerant quantum computing and numerical approaches to quantum many-body problems is highly desirable.
You will work closely with our team of physicists, engineers, and scientists to translate cutting-edge research into robust, scalable software and develop industry-leading quantum algorithms tailored for Aegiq's photonic quantum computers.
Responsibilities
- Engage and collaborate with customers to develop innovative approaches to industry pain points utilising both quantum and quantum-inspired algorithms
- Perform simulations of quantum many-body systems, to validate and improve the performance of quantum algorithms
- Develop quantum-inspired tensor network algorithms across industry use cases
- Produce technical documentation, tutorials, and developer resources. Contribute to publications, presentations and patent applications
- Ensure seamless integration with Aegiq's photonic quantum hardware and interoperability with HPC environments
- Collaborate with partners and internal teams to develop and maintain high-performance quantum computing software
Requirements
Essential criteria
- A PhD (or equivalent experience) in physics, computer science, mathematics, or a related field. Exceptional candidates with a Master's degree in quantum physics will also be considered
- Strong programming skills in Python, Julia, C, or C++, with experience in numerical and high-performance computing
- A problem-solving mindset with a passion for developing innovative technical solutions in a collaborative environment
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
Desirable criteria
- Experience with tensor network algorithms and/or development of tensor network libraries
- Familiarity with quantum many-body simulation, quantum computing, quantum information theory, quantum algorithm design, fluid dynamics, and/or materials modelling
- Competence in modern software development practices (e.g. Git, CI/CD, code modularity and testing)
- Hands-on experience with tools like iTensor, cuQuantum, Qiskit, Cirq, or similar quantum software libraries
