Are you ready to take control of critical transport operations in a fast-paced, high-stakes logistics environment? We’re looking for a Transport Controller to join our LHR team to ensure the smooth coordination of time-sensitive preplanned/same day collections, deliveries, and airport tenders & recoveries.
As a Transport Controller, you’ll be responsible for managing daily driver schedules, monitoring live transport activities, and ensuring compliance with operational standards. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver exceptional service for QuickSTAT and Sterling Aviation consignments—many of which are life sciences or AOG time critical.
How you create impact
- Schedule and allocate drivers for nationwide collections, deliveries, and airport tenders/recoveries
- Monitor live transport activities and liaise with drivers and subcontractors
- Ensure timely milestone updates (e.g., Pick-Up, Out for Delivery, POD)
- Manage shared mailboxes and respond to internal transport queries
- Maintain driver discipline and standards (e.g., appearance, vehicle cleanliness, punctuality)
- Provide clear shift handovers and escalate issues to management as needed
- Support quality control and continuous improvement initiatives
What we would like you to bring
- Experience in courier or freight operations, including import/export and transport
- Strong knowledge of UK road networks and route planning
- Familiarity with temperature-controlled packaging and transit milestones
- Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Good Distribution Practice knowledge.
- Experience using a Transport Management system preferred.
