To build our team we are looking for a R&D Product Technologist to join our growing team in Buckingham.
Your Mission
The role of the R&D Product Technologist plays a key part on the Buckingham site and is responsible for developing products from concept to launch, involving recipe formulation and factory scale up trials to deliver successful customer launches. The R&D technologist has a keen interest in the food industry and is passionate about product development. Creative yet methodical with a strong desire to learn and succeed.
What You Will Do
New product development and innovations:
- Creating product formulations based on customer briefs.
- Designing and making products and concepts with precision and repeatability.
- Producing lab samples & prototypes for customer trialing.
- Testing products in finished good applications.
- Scaling up products from lab and pilot plant to full scale production.
- Shelf-life testing and validation of products.
- Providing support to the factory on product launches and improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate post launch reviews.
Delight customers:
- Project management and maintenance for customer accounts with Key Account Manager support.
- Proactive, professional, and confident communications with our teams and customers.
- Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for specified customer accounts.
Build and share knowledge and experience:
- Accurate record keeping, ensuring full traceability of process.
- Working well with all members of the site team including, but not limited to Technical, Production and Quality teams; with a priority on clear and proactive communications and a collaborative approach to problem solving.
Support R&D Team:
- Covering for the R&D Manager when required.
- Be a team player who can work well cross-functionally.
- Mentoring new team members
What We Expect From You
- Have a qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Product Development or similar.
- Have prior experience (minimum 3 years) within food manufacturing or another relevant production environment/industry.
- Have Food Hygiene & HACCP level 3
- Be methodical and rigorous with high attention to detail
- Skilled at building collaborative relationships internally and externally
- Highly organised, able to multi-task and prioritise effectively
- Be a confident user of computers and technology.
- Be able to travel in the UK and occasionally abroad (10% on average).
- Be open to flexible working hours.
