What will you be doing?

We’re looking for a Radiation Physics Engineer to support a major nuclear programme, where precision modelling, shielding design, and safety assessments are key to protecting people and systems from ionising radiation.

This is a great opportunity to apply advanced nuclear physics knowledge in a high-impact, regulated environment, working closely with multidisciplinary teams on reactor systems, shielding design, and compliance with nuclear safety standards.

Your main responsibilities will be:

• Modelling and simulating radiation transport using industry-recognised tools.
• Supporting the design of radiation shielding and protection systems for nuclear facilities.
• Conducting dose rate calculations, activation analyses, and radiological assessments.
• Interpreting and applying nuclear safety standards and radiation protection regulations.
• Collaborating with engineers and safety teams to ensure compliance throughout the lifecycle of the project.
• Preparing technical documentation and presenting analysis results to internal stakeholders.

Who are we looking for?

• Solid foundation in nuclear or radiation physics.
• Experience in radiation shielding, protection, or transport modelling.
• Hands-on experience with Monte Carlo simulation codes – ideally MCNP.
• Exposure to Attila4MC or similar deterministic transport software (a bonus).
• Familiarity with nuclear regulatory requirements and radiological safety standards.
• Strong communication skills and ability to document technical findings clearly.

Experience, skills and qualifications required:

• Degree (or higher) in Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrable experience working in the nuclear sector or a radiation-heavy environment.
