About the role
Wiggin is not a typical law firm and this is not a typical Property Paralegal role.
We specialise in media, technology, sports, betting & gaming and intellectual property. While our clients instruct us on mainstream freehold, leasehold and other typical property matters, many of our film and TV sector clients also use us to negotiate location contracts for filming anything from small TV productions to the next blockbuster movie. While these contracts are fundamentally land hire agreements, they also contain bespoke provisions designed to protect and maximise the value of the filming content being produced.
As a paralegal in our compact and agile Property Team, you'll work alongside highly skilled lawyers on a range of property work. You'll undertake a range of practical tasks on core transactions (acquisitions and disposals), such as property searches, investigations and reports on title, managing the mechanics of completion and post-completion matters etc. Mostly this will relate to commercial property but there will be occasional high-profile or high-value residential purchase and sales work too.
You'll also enjoy hands-on experience with our location contracts work, working on multiple contracts simultaneously for a range of film and TV production companies. You'll get full training to ensure you can quickly become confident in this unusual and exciting workstream.
The role is being offered on a fixed-term basis to cover a period of maternity leave with a start date in January 2026. We are open to considering candidates looking for part-time positions on at least a 75% full-time equivalent basis.
Based in our Cheltenham office, under our discretionary hybrid working policy you'll typically be able to work from home up to 2 days each week.
About you
You're probably already excited about the prospect of watching your first movie where you've helped facilitate the on-location filming.
Paralegal experience is not essential for this role (though it would be advantageous, especially if in a property role), but strong academics including a UK law degree or PGDL are a must. Completion of the FLK1 & FLK2 would also be welcome - but not a requirement.
Beyond that we'll be looking for exceptional people and communication skills, and for someone who is highly organised, diligent and professional with excellent attention to detail and focus.
