Role Description
This role is responsible for the health, safety, and loss control programs execution within the plants at Ardagh Metal Packaging Europe (AMPE). The role is also a key point of contact for government and regulatory agencies. The HSE Manager must have functional expertise across several competencies including health and safety, BSafe & Loss Control standards, and management systems. The position also requires strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, influencing and engagement skills, business acumen, and change management.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing ARMS Health and Safety incident reports and engaging with the plants to ensure sufficient quality in root cause analysis and the definition and transfer of corrective actions and lessons learned in all AMP-E locations
- Monitoring the plants’ management systems for conformity with the requirements of the ISO 45001 (Health & Safety)
- Prepare lessons learnt sessions with the leadership team to address specific topics with Machine Safety, Slip Trips & Falls and Traffic Safety standards
- Monitoring, assessing and driving an effective implementation of BSafe7! (Health and Safety) Bready! (Loss Prevention Standards)
- Conduct ad hoc trouble shooting reviews, technical visits and surveys on plants whose HS KPI trends demonstrate continual worsening
- Engaging with the AMP EHS and risk management function to ensure coherence and alignment of the AMP and regional development
- Updating of the plant loss event on site risk in the Enterprise Risk Management System (ERM)
- Analysis and implementation of a correct and consistent PPE standard for AMPE
- Implementation of Health & Safety Best Practices across the region with materials, training sessions and regular follow-up.
- Participation in internal IMS audits across AMPE addressing the new regulations for Health & Safety
- Participation in internal Group Risk audits, meetings and reports for AMPE plants (e.g. Traffic Safety, Bsafe Meeting, Close out incident, risk prevention, ISO)
- Development of standardized AMPE risk assessments
- Maintain relationships with external stakeholders like authorities, customers, insurance company associations etc. in cooperation with Local country management, Regulatory Affairs department and Director R EH&S.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical, Environmental Engineering or equivalent; EHS focus preferred
- 6+ years of Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) experience in a manufacturing environment and required
- Functional EHS Knowledge in regulatory requirements, EHS technical aspects (machine safety, industrial hygiene, environmental), risk management, behaviors-based safety, training, auditing/program review, regulatory agency enforcement, EHS vendor/consultant management, business knowledge required
- Proven track record in driving a cultural change in Health & Safety with the ability to establish and develop a strategic plan
- Strong communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and influence management skills
