Building a sustainable tomorrow
BAM Construction is recruiting a Regional Estimator to join our team in the Northern Region. This role offers flexible working arrangements, including a mix of home, office, and site-based work, supporting a balanced and inclusive work schedule.
Your mission
As a Regional Estimator, you will lead the estimating function within the tender process, supporting single action tenders, two-stage tenders, hybrid two-stage tenders, and framework agreements. Projects typically range from £5m to £100m, spanning diverse contract types and procurement routes. You’ll work closely with Commercial Managers and Pre-Construction teams, reporting to the Northern Region Commercial Director, and play a key role in shaping winning bids and driving strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead all estimating aspects of the tender process, including presenting tenders at adjudication meetings.
• Represent the region in national estimating forums and working groups.
• Attend fortnightly Preconstruction meetings to align on tender actions and resource needs.
• Compile monthly reports on active tenders and ensure governance documentation is complete.
• Liaise with BAM UKI Tenderdesk for compliance and approvals.
• Manage dedicated estimating resources and agree tender budgets.
• Oversee measurement and production of quantities from drawings or BIM models.
• Maintain up-to-date cost data and supply chain scoring.
• Attend client interviews and produce handover documentation for successful bids.
• Develop relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners.
• Promote BAM supply chain agreements and direct procurement advantages.
• Mentor and train junior staff, fostering a culture of excellence.
Who are we looking for?
• Proven experience in estimating roles within construction.
• Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced Excel proficiency and familiarity with Conquest.
• Ability to price from first principles and perform take-offs and measurements.
• Knowledge of SMM7 and NRM2.
• Experience working with digital models and BIM.
• Excellent client-facing and team leadership skills.
• A collaborative mindset and ambition to grow within the business.
