Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Regulation 44 Visitor to independently monitor and report on the quality of care provided in our children’s home setting. The successful candidate will act as a critical friend, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations and the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.


This role is essential in safeguarding the welfare and well-being of our young people and supporting the continuous improvement of our residential provision.

  • Location: West Berkshire
  • Rota: 2 / 3 days per month

Role overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Regulation 44 Visitor to independently monitor and report on the quality of care provided in our Children’s Home setting. The successful candidate will act as a critical friend, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations and the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.


This role is essential in safeguarding the welfare and well-being of our young people and supporting the continuous improvement of our residential provision.


Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular visits to the Children’s Home in accordance with Regulation 44 requirements.
  • Monitor and review the quality of care, safeguarding, and welfare arrangements.
  • Provide detailed and objective reports to the Registered Manager, proprietors, and Ofsted.
  • Highlight areas of good practice and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Liaise with staff, young people, and families to gather feedback and insights.
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted standards and relevant legislation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and act with integrity at all times.


Person specification

  • Experience working with children and young people with complex needs, particularly those with autism.
  • Knowledge of Ofsted regulations and Children’s Homes statutory requirements.
  • Excellent observational, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to act independently and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Experience in residential care and education settings.
  • Commitment to promoting the rights and dignity of young people.
