The Solicitors Regulation Authority's technical team are growing and are looking for a Regulatory Adviser with proficient regulatory expertise.
As a Regulatory Adviser within Authorisation (or Technical Adviser as you will be known internally), you will be part of a small dynamic team accountable for providing high quality legal and regulatory advice and support to people both within the unit and in wider organisation.
Authorisation is one of the SRA's largest operational teams, it is subject to the widest range of regulation and statute which it uses to assess, admit and authorise both firms and individuals to offer legal services. Every year it manages the solicitors' practising certificate fee renewal exercise collecting circa £115 million and handling over 170,000 applications.
Using your extensive knowledge of our regulations and statute you will review and produce high quality decisions, advice, and reports.
You will coach and mentor members of the Authorisation team and positively influence their behaviours, attitudes to risk and their approach to regulation. You will also be involved in designing, developing, and providing regulatory and legal technical training.
Reporting to the Senior Technical Adviser, you will work with them to contribute to the development of our policies and processes.
Working in this role you will be involved in a variety of initiatives. These range from managing the impact of the political landscape on our firms and solicitors; considering rehabilitation and admission to the legal profession; working with stakeholders in policy to develop and implement regulations; introducing, training, and implementing new regulations; producing documents that can withstand legal challenge before external tribunals, and Court; and facilitating good business practice for regulated individuals and firms.
This is an excellent opportunity if you would like to capitalise on your extensive understanding of regulation law and risk, and hone your ability to train, mentor and implement regulatory reform to the profession as part of a supportive team.
