Shared Regulatory Services (SRS) delivers the Environmental Health, Trading Standards and Licensing functions across the Bridgend, Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan areas. Working across the three Council areas, SRS serves around a fifth of the population of Wales.
Hosted by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, the purpose of the Service is to protect the health, safety and economic wellbeing of residents and reputable businesses within the region. We do this through a combination of advice, guidance and support, as well as through the investigation of offences and enforcement action as necessary. Roles in Environmental Health, Trading Standards and Licensing are both interesting and rewarding and it’s certainly the case that no two days are ever the same!

About The Role
Grade 3: £24,404 p.a
The Regulatory Services Apprentice role will be based in one of our Environmental Health or Trading Standards teams, with the successful candidate gaining experience across the breadth of the Service over the course of the 18 months.
While studying for the Level 4 Diploma in Regulatory Compliance qualification, you will assist Officers in a range of duties. Successful progression within the apprenticeship will result in the successful candidate being given tasks to be undertaken with support, as part of a developing workload.
Study towards the qualification will be through a mix of online and face to face training with the Training Provider with whom you and your supervisor will have regular contact. Alongside your work, time will be factored into the week for study including the completion of assessments and other pieces of work. You will work in a supportive environment.
The role offers the perfect opportunity to earn as you learn, with a potential pathway for career progression and professional qualification in one of the Regulatory Services disciplines. Note that progression will depend on performance and the right fit in respect of skills and behaviours.
