Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and General Aviation.
As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.
As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Safety Engineer to develop appropriate safety and reliability cases for new and existing products to drive system design and demonstrate applicability and compliance to customer needs.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Taking ownership of the processes and performing product safety case , FHA, DFMEA, FTA, PSSA, PRA, CMA, ZSA regarding battery systems and powertrain for aerospace applications
- Developing the product safety cases based on aerospace regulation requirements
- Developing the product maintainability and level of repair analyses
- Acting as the main point of contact and interface with customers to develop and demonstrate applicable safety and reliability cases at system level integrating with the aircraft
- Assisting with the creation and implementation of the process of product developed to ARP 4754 ensuring specific reliability, safety and maintainability requirements are generated and flowed down in development projects; with a specific focus around ARP 4761 for safety analysis
- Determining safety goals and DAL for the systems
- Generation of documentation and supporting items to a standard to satisfy functional safety audit and assessment for EASA & CAA part 21 J & G
- Working closely with the Software and Control Hardware Teams to ensure best practice is followed and product meets defined safety goals.
Skills and experience required:
- Degree level qualification or equivalent
- Previous proven experience in a functional safety and systems process in an aerospace environment
- Experienced with requirement tracking systems (CodeBeamer, JIRA and Confluence)
- Experienced in the use of FHA, DFMEA tools
- Confident and able to articulate complex issues in a succinct manor
- Ability to quickly pick up new tasks and understand issues, find solutions, and implement
- Ability to work under pressure while managing conflicting demands against tight deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Creative problem-solving abilities with an analytical approach to implementation
- Self-motivated with the determination to succeed
- A flexible approach to work with the desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
- UK driving license and be willing to support occasional travel.
Desirable:
- Good knowledge of aircraft systems
- In-depth knowledge of electric motors, controllers, or similar applications
- Previous experience with Certification Specifications and/or Special Conditions
- An understanding of DO254 and DO178C
