Job Description
CAHSS / Business School
Grade UE06: 34,610 to £39,906 per annum, pro-rata
Fixed term: 12 months
Guaranteed hours contract: 10 hours per year
The RA Pool is a group of recruited research assistants available to work on staff projects. Staff members may call upon a member of the RA Pool when assistance is required for their research. As a member of the RA Pool, you will be offered opportunities to assist with a variety of research projects.
Examples of previous opportunities have included: working with databases; arranging interviews and data collection; data cleansing; and assisting with literature reviews.
The work available varies depending on the research needs of the school’s research staff. The Research Office ensures that all work opportunities are communicated to the Research Assistant Pool, and any member of the RA Pool interested in the opportunity and available to work on the project may then put themselves forward. The assignment of specific work is provided on an ad-hoc basis, and will be primarily driven by the requirements of the academic, along with the experience and availability of the RA.
As a member of the RA Pool, it is expected that you are available to take on a minimum of 10 hours throughout the academic year. In practice, the number of hours will depend upon the availability of suitable projects, the stage of your PhD and the amount of time you can devote to RA work without having a detrimental impact on your studies.
This is a part-time, guaranteed hours role. The salary for this post is £34,610 to £39,906 per annum, pro-rata.
