Job Overview

This role is central to the support provided to clinicians and researchers across NBT to develop and deliver high quality research grants. The post holder will support the Research Development and Grants Team in being the first point of contact at the beginning of the research process. Their research knowledge and project management skills will ensure a well-informed, coordinated support mechanism, through to the submission of grant applications.

Main duties of the job

  • Facilitate the development of Directorate research portfolios and strategy

To work closely with NBT research teams and the Research Development and Grants Team in devising and reviewing strategies for research development for teams across the Trust.

  • Research Support

To advise researchers in the development of their research proposals following agreed principles of good practice.

  • Project Management

To provide project management expertise in the grant application stage and ongoing management of projects.

  • Research Teaching, Training and Supervision

Work with novice researchers to develop their grant writing skills to a suitable standard to successfully apply for research funding.

Person specification

Essential

Essential criteria

  • Postgraduate qualification (e.g. MSc) in social sciences/research or management, or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Experience in planning and conducting research and research design
  • Proven Project Management experience; Excellent project Management skills
  • Excellent IT skills with demonstrable experience of Microsoft Office software; Intermediate Knowledge of excel, MS Project & word
  • An understanding of a clinical/ hospital environment
  • An understanding of the NHS R&D funding system
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills
