Research Fellow position in Economic History at the University of Birmingham - School of History and Cultures
Salary: £37,174 per year
Work on the Leverhulme Trust funded research project "The Ascent Of Paper Currency In Britain, 1690s–1920s" with Hiroki Shin (Birmingham) and Nuno Palma (Manchester).
You will be responsible for collecting and organising historical data from the Bank of England Archive and other UK archives, contributing to the creation of a large database on historical banknote users, and analysing monetary and financial history in modern Britain. This fixed-term position runs until September 2027.
This position is ideal for candidates with a first degree in economic history, modern history, economics, or economic geography. A PhD is not mandatory - we encourage MA holders (pre-docs) to apply! Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate complex information clearly are essential.
