Reservoir Safety Engineer (Reservoirs & Dams)
Full Time - Permanent (flexible working available)
Salary Band – up to £77,000 + Car Allowance & an excellent benefits package
Location – South-East England covering primarily our Essex and Suffolk operating areas with travel to our reservoirs in our northern operating area.

About The Role
We strive to be national leader in achieving and maintaining the highest standards of reservoirs & dam safety. Our approach emphasises innovation and collaboration as one team, working diligently to reduce the risk of failures, protect communities, the environment and improve compliance. This is achieved through effective surveillance, monitoring, examination, and inspection.
As a member of the Reservoir Safety Team, you will support the company as undertaker of the current portfolio of Large Raised Reservoirs where we have ultimate responsibility for the safety of the reservoir.
Working collaboratively with our colleagues and partners to manage the safety of our dams, related infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with the Reservoirs Act 1975. You will provide expert technical support to our internal teams regarding potential or actual Reservoir Act compliance and reservoir safety issues.
We have made good progress in delivering improvements to our reservoir safety operations over recent years and we are looking for you to make further improvements and to support with the development of long-term strategies for our reservoir safety operations, considering the Reservoirs Act 1975 and the Floods and Water Management Act 2010.
About You
This role requires a creative individual who excels in strategic thinking and problem solving.
- You’ll build and maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
- You should have excellent communication skills and a strong ability to influence decision making at all levels.
- Ideally you will be able to demonstrate effective project management of civil engineering projects taking into consideration Health & Safety, Company, and Legislative procedures and budget constraints.
- To be successful within the role you will need to have detailed working knowledge of the Reservoirs Act 1975 and of knowledge of dam construction, monitoring and maintenance.
- Writing and interpreting technical reports is essential, you must be confident in this space.
- You’ll also be able to use relevant Microsoft packages.
The position requires you to be appointed to the Supervising Engineers (England and Wales) joint panel.

This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.
Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.
Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked
