What you will do:
- Lead, manage, and oversee the daily running of two children's homes, ensuring compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
- Ensure that both homes provide a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment where children feel valued, respected, and supported
- Develop and implement personalised care strategies for each child, ensuring their progress is effectively measured, recorded, and celebrated
- Recruit, induct, and manage staff teams, promoting a culture of reflection, accountability, and professional growth
- Manage staff rotas, training, supervisions, and appraisals across both homes
- Oversee budgets and resources to maintain high standards of care
- Build strong working relationships with local authorities, social workers, education providers, health professionals, and other key stakeholders
- Prepare both homes for Ofsted inspections, ensuring continuous development and improvement
- Safeguard and promote children's welfare, embedding safeguarding policies and procedures into practice
- Report to the Responsible Individual, providing regular updates on performance, challenges, and progress
Role Purpose:
The Dual Registered Manager will hold Ofsted registration for two children's homes, providing strong leadership, operational oversight, and strategic direction. You will ensure both homes deliver outstanding care that safeguards children, promotes recovery from trauma, and achieves positive outcomes in line with their care plans.
Requirements of the Registered Manager:
Qualifications:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential
- Additional qualifications in therapeutic approaches, social work, psychology, or trauma-informed practice are desirable
Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience as a Registered Manager in a children's residential setting is essential
- Proven track record of achieving "Good" or "Outstanding" Ofsted ratings
- Experience leading and developing staff teams
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and children's legislation
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and resources effectively
Desirable:
- Experience managing multiple homes or services
- Background in therapeutic or trauma-informed care
- Multi-agency working and strong professional networking
Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent leadership and people management skills
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and retain staff
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- High level of emotional resilience and ability to manage challenging situations
- Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and interpersonal
