About the Role

A leading US law firm is seeking a Restructuring Associate to join their high-calibre team in London. The successful candidate will work alongside top-tier partners in cross-border corporate restructurings, distressed acquisitions and formal insolvency proceedings, with a particular emphasis on equity restructuring, debt for equity conversions and NewCo structuring.

Key Responsibilities

Advise clients on complex cross-border corporate restructurings and distressed transactions
Draft and negotiate equity restructuring plans, including debt for equity swaps
Structure acquisitions via NewCo vehicles and coordinate joint venture investment platforms
Assist with formal insolvency proceedings and distressed acquisitions
Support transition and asset management initiatives for a diverse client base, including funds, banks, and insolvency office holders

Requirements

Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with 3–4 years of post-qualification experience
Strong academic credentials and demonstrable track record in restructuring and insolvency work
Experience with debt for equity transactions, distressed acquisitions or insolvency matters is essential
Commercial awareness, attention to detail and ability to manage high-pressure situations effectively
Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
