The main purpose of this role is to undertake the Return to Nursing Practice Programme with Education Partner Bournemouth University with the aim of reinstating their professional nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
The post holder will engage with an academic education programme at Bournemouth University and complete an academic assignment.
Alongside this, the post holder will undertake clinical placement within an identified clinical area for 15 hours per week for a minimum of 150 hours- maximum 450, which is required by the NMC. The scope and remit will be commensurate with that of a final year pre-registration student nurse.
The purpose of this role is to become embedded within the clinical environment and develop clinical and professional skills, proficiencies and experience to enable entry as a Registered Nurse on the NMC Register.
The post holder will work as an effective member of the team under the supervision and direction of a registered healthcare professional, providing dignified, compassionate and safe care for patients and ensuring high standards of documentation are maintained.
Applicants must have a lapsed UK NMC Pin, there is no opportunity for sponsorship for this role.
- Provide a high level of holistic, compassionate and safe care to all patients, service users, relatives and visitors to the clinical area
- Respond promptly to patient call bells, telephones and other requests for help from colleagues and service users
- Ensure and maintain a safe working environment for themselves, colleagues, patients, service users and visitors to the clinical area
- Recognise the Equality and Diversity Rights and individual needs of patients, service users, and colleagues by supporting non-discriminatory and fully inclusive practice, acknowledging the personal beliefs and identifies of others
- Complete legible, accurate, contemporaneous, signed and dated records and documentation in accordance with Trust policies and procedures
- To engage in supernumerary clinical practice time demonstrating the standards of competent required to be readmitted to the NMC Register as a registered nurse.

Please note if the role or service is relocated as part of a planned move, employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement. Travel from the postholder's home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute.
