We are assisting one of our clients in attracting an interim consultant to support the organisation while they search for a permanent placement..

Purpose of the role:

Oversee and evaluate the identification, monitoring, management, and reporting of investment risks carried out by the Company on behalf of the funds under its management. This oversight aims to ensure effective risk management for our customers, the market, other stakeholders, and our company.

Risk & Compliance

The Risk and Compliance teams serve as the second line of oversight within the Company. The Risk team works to ensure that effective risk management and internal controls are implemented through the risk management framework, which is essential for the firm’s decision-making process. This team provides an independent assessment of the company’s overall risk and regularly reports to both management and the Board, as well as its committees, regarding current and emerging risks.

Meanwhile, the Compliance team offers support and oversight of regulatory requirements throughout the business. They deliver insights based on monitoring conducted in accordance with the plan approved by the Board Risk Committee and provide regular reports related to regulatory risks and conduct risk management.

Key Deliverables:

• Lead the Investment Risk team in providing expert oversight for the identification, monitoring, management, and reporting of investment risks. This includes assessing portfolio risks, liquidity, and leverage of funds within the Alternative Collective Schemes (ACS) and other investment vehicles.
• Responsible for critically assessing the quality and completeness of management information produced by the first line, regarding all aspects of investment risk.
• Continuously assist the second line in evaluating the effectiveness and operation of the risk management framework and policies related to the ACS and other investment vehicles. This will culminate in an annual report to the Board Risk Committee.

Essential Experience:

• Extensive experience in a technical and analytical role within the financial services sector, including managing, assessing, measuring, monitoring, and reporting on investment risk.
• Experience of working to the FCA’s FUND and also AIFMD requirements.
• Experience of working on both public and private asset classes risk management
• At least five years of experience in a risk management role at a large financial institution.
• Proficient IT skills, especially advanced spreadsheet capabilities, and the willingness to become an expert in relevant software and tools used by the first-line risk management teams.
