As a Risk Manager at Schroders Personal Wealth, you will provide risk management support and oversight in accordance with SPW’s risk appetite; delivering, maintaining and improving risk management practices.

You'll play a vital role in shaping how risks are understood and addressed across the organisation, regularly sharing insights with the Risk Committee, the Board Audit and Risk Committee (BARC), and the Board.
Your other responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the business in adopting and embedding the SPW Risk Management Framework enhancing SPW’s use of data in risk management
- Provide specialist information, guidance, and direction on the Risk Management Framework and Risk more generally to a wide range of stakeholders, ensuring satisfactory understanding and resolution of issues for all parties, escalating risks as appropriate recommending solutions as required, in line with SPW’s Risk Management Framework.
- You'll contribute to the preparation of the Risk Committee pack, clearly and thoughtfully summarising the key risks facing SPW. You'll also support reporting and action tracking for the BARC and the Board.
- Supporting and challenging 1st line identification, assessment and mitigation of risks;
- Reviewing and challenging 1st line control effectiveness assessments and recommending improvement actions;
- Monitoring 1st line performance against risk appetite tolerances and thresholds and escalating where these are breached;
- Collaborate with the Compliance team to ensure the regulatory environment is considered as part of relevant business initiatives, bespoke projects, transactions and investigations to ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and policy
- Actively develop and maintain relationships with key colleagues, stakeholders and peers to obtain/ exchange information, identify and implement best practices and where appropriate ascertain future developments thinking from a risk lens.
- Planning and undertaking compliance monitoring / risk assurance reviews against regulatory requirements, industry control standards, internal policies and procedures
- Pro-actively promote a high performance, customer focused culture that is consistent with SPW's vision and values.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience in financial services or regulatory environments, ideally around 7 years or more. We welcome diverse career paths that demonstrate relevant expertise.
- Strong knowledge of UK financial services products and propositions, with the ability to apply this understanding in a practical and inclusive way.
- Strong understanding of Risk Management Frameworks and how they support effective decision-making and governance .
- Confident communicator, able to translate complex information clearly and respectfully to a wide range of stakeholders
- Comfortable working with data and written content, with strong skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to support impactful communication.
- A strong understanding of FCA regulations and the UK regulatory landscape, with the ability to apply them thoughtfully and practically in real-world situations.
