West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated and motivated Rough Sleeper Navigator to join our Homelessness Reduction Team within the Housing Service. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a rewarding role, supporting rough sleepers to access services and support.
The Role
As a Rough Sleeper Navigator, you will be responsible for:
- Working directly with rough sleepers and single homeless households to provide tailored support and guidance
- Helping individuals to overcome barriers and access appropriate services, such as housing, healthcare, and employment
- Supporting the ongoing outreach work to engage with rough sleepers in the local community
- Building positive relationships with clients, offering encouragement and motivation
- Collaborating with external agencies and organisations to ensure comprehensive support is provided
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation of client interactions
- You will play a crucial role in helping rough sleepers to navigate the challenges they face, ultimately working towards achieving positive outcomes and sustainable housing solutions.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Experience working with rough sleepers or individuals facing homelessness
- Strong understanding of the issues and barriers faced by this vulnerable group
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients
- Empathetic and non-judgmental approach to supporting individuals
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Organised and able to manage a caseload effectively
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and local support services
This role is fixed term until 31/03/2026 - Funding limited project
