If so, West Berkshire Council has an exciting opportunity for you to join our Education Services team as the Safeguarding Lead Officer.
The Role
As the Safeguarding Lead Officer, you will be the key point of contact for safeguarding matters within the Education Services. Reporting to the Acting Service Manager Access, Planning and Trading, you will work collaboratively with schools, settings, and other stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of safeguarding policies and procedures.
Your Main Responsibilities Will Include
- To provide a high level of specialist advice and support to the Service Manager, schools and other settings on safeguarding issues.
- To ensure that the highest standards of safeguarding are maintained across all education providers.
- To monitor and evaluate safeguarding practices, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate actions.
- To collaborate with external agencies, such as the Local Safeguarding Children Board, to promote information sharing and ensure effective multi-agency working.
- To deliver training and awareness sessions to staff, governors, and volunteers on safeguarding issues.
- To maintain accurate and confidential records, producing reports as required.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of safeguarding legislation, regulations, and best practices.
- Experience in providing advice and support on safeguarding issues within an educational setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in delivering training and raising awareness on safeguarding matters.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
