Are you passionate about ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young people? Do you have the skills and expertise to support safeguarding in education settings? West Berkshire Council is seeking a dedicated and motivated Safeguarding Officer to join our Education Services team.
The Role
As the Safeguarding Officer, you will work closely with the Safeguarding Lead Officer to:
- Support the effective delivery of safeguarding services for children and young people in West Berkshire
- Ensure the timely and appropriate handling of safeguarding concerns and referrals
- Collaborate with education providers to promote and ensure the safeguarding of students
- Assist in the collection and analysis of data related to safeguarding
- Contribute to the development and delivery of safeguarding training and awareness initiatives

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding legislation, policies, and practices
- Experience in handling safeguarding concerns and conducting investigations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
