Safety Manager
Main Roles and Responsibilities
- Advising and assisting relevant Managers in fulfilling their safety obligations towards employees and others, as defined by statutory regulations, company policies, and client requirements.
- Ensuring all personnel are fully aware of their legal duties and responsibilities, providing safety advice as required.
- Supporting the Project Manager in the implementation of Martifer’s and the Client’s approved Safety standards, specifications, and procedures.
- Reviewing, completing, and obtaining necessary approvals for documentation to maintain the Safety Management System, ensuring that all project Safety documentation remains up to date.
- Providing expert guidance in the preparation of safety-related documentation, including Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and procedures.
- Conducting and recording regular site inspections and monitoring verification activities.
- Maintaining accurate records to ensure compliance with statutory legislation and contractual requirements.
- Advising on training needs and coordinating health and safety training at site level.
- Participating in the identification, analysis, and resolution of non-conformities, including the development of corrective and preventive action plans.
- Investigating non-conformities, preparing Corrective Action Reports (CARs), and reporting findings to the Project Manager.
- Ensuring all assigned corrective actions are effectively and promptly closed out.
- Leading accident and incident investigations, analysing data, and making recommendations to prevent recurrence.
- Ensuring all accidents and incidents are reported to the HSEQ Coordinator in accordance with project requirements.
- Monitoring, managing, and communicating Safety performance to the Project Manager and HSEQ Coordinator.
- Working proactively with the project team to achieve and maintain high Safety standards.
- Attending management and safety meetings as required.
- Collaborating with Project Management and Installation teams to ensure the effective implementation of Safety procedures.
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring Safety Plans .
- Delivering safety awareness sessions to Martifer UK Ltd. staff and subcontractor personnel on site.
Essential Skills, Experience, and Requirements:
- NEBOSH National Certificate (minimum) or equivalent NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety – Required.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001:2018 – Required.
- Experience in steel erections and façade installation – Advantageous.
- Proven experience in accident investigation – Required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – Required.
- Competent IT skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based applications – Required.
- Strong team player with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally.
