The Role
The Sales & Business Development Assistant supports the growth of the business by providing administrative, organisational, and client facing assistance to the Sales & BD function. The role helps maintain a healthy pipeline, ensures smooth coordination of BD activities, supports marketing and communications, and strengthens the company’s presence across nuclear, energy, process, and industrial sectors. It is an ideal entry level or early career role for someone developing into a full BD professional.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development Support
• Assist in identifying new opportunities through market research, tender portals, and industry updates.
• Maintain and update the CRM, pipeline tracker, and opportunity logs.
• Support preparation of capability statements, tender submissions, and client presentations.
• Coordinate internal inputs for bids, including gathering CVs, project references, and technical data.
• Help prepare meeting packs, agendas, and follow up actions for BD activities.
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
• Support the scheduling of client meetings, site visits, and capability demonstrations.
• Assist in managing key client contact lists and communication records.
• Draft follow up emails, meeting notes, and client correspondence.
• Provide a professional first point of contact for inbound enquiries.
Pre Qualification & Compliance Administration
• Complete customer pre qualification questionnaires (PQQs), vendor approvals, and framework onboarding forms.
• Maintain up to date company documentation including policies, certifications, insurances, and case studies.
• Coordinate with Quality, HR, and Operations departments to gather required compliance information.
Marketing, Social Media & Communications
• Support creation and posting of social media content, news updates, and project highlights.
• Assist in developing case studies, brochures, and marketing collateral.
• Help maintain the company website with fresh content and updates.
• Coordinate photography, videography, and content gathering from project teams.
Events & Industry Engagement
• Organise attendance at industry events, conferences, and networking forums.
• Coordinate logistics for exhibitions, sponsorships, and client hospitality.
• Prepare event materials, banners, brochures, and promotional items.
• Capture and share event outcomes, contacts, and follow up actions.
Internal Collaboration
• Work closely with BD, estimating, engineering, and operations teams to ensure smooth information flow.
• Support internal reporting, dashboards, and monthly BD updates.
• Assist with administrative tasks that keep the BD function organised and efficient.
Required Experience & Knowledge
Industry & Technical Awareness
• Interest in engineering, construction, or industrial sectors (experience beneficial but not essential).
• Basic understanding of mechanical, piping, or fabrication environments is an advantage.
• Willingness to learn about welding processes, project delivery, and sector terminology.
Business Development & Administration
• Experience in an administrative, coordination, marketing, or junior sales role (preferred).
• Familiarity with CRM systems, tender portals, or PQQ platforms is beneficial.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Marketing & Communication
• Comfortable drafting social posts, basic marketing content, and client communications.
• Experience with Canva, Adobe, or similar tools is an advantage.
