About us
We are Digital Science and we are advancing the research ecosystem.
We are a pioneering technology company, and our vision is of a future where a trusted and collaborative research ecosystem drives progress for all. We believe in better, open, collaborative and inclusive research. In creating the next generation of tools and working in partnership with the community we tackle some of the biggest challenges to research. In order to achieve our vision, we need innovative, inspiring and dynamic people to join our team. Want to join us?
Your new role
As a Sales Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and closing new business opportunities to drive revenue growth. This hunter-style role requires a proactive, strategic, and results-oriented sales professional with a strong ability to build new relationships and articulate the value of our offerings to prospective customers. You will work closely with the Director of Sales and broader IFI/DS team to expand our footprint, especially among untapped or under penetrated accounts.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Prospect and develop new business opportunities through outbound outreach, cold calling, networking, and attending industry events.
- Build and manage a robust pipeline of qualified leads with a focus on new logo acquisition. Conduct discovery meetings to understand prospects’ needs and clearly position our product’s value.
- Own the full sales cycle from initial contact to contract execution for new clients. Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets as defined by the Director of Sales.
- Collaborate with marketing to convert inbound interest into sales opportunities and tailor outreach messaging.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecast new business opportunities, and provide regular activity updates.
- Stay current on industry trends, competitive landscape, and customer challenges to inform outreach strategies.
- Represent the company at conferences, webinars, and meetings with a focus on lead generation and brand visibility.
- Work with internal stakeholders (e.g., Product, Customer Success, Tech, and Legal) to ensure smooth handoffs and customer satisfaction post-sale.
What You’ll Bring To The Role
- You’re a proven enterprise seller with a track record of success in solution-based SaaS—ideally within life sciences, R&D, or scientific software. You know how to prospect, qualify, and close, and you understand the nuances of navigating complex buying environments in biotech, pharma, and medical devices.
- You’re skilled at building and managing deals with multiple stakeholders, and you’re comfortable working within enterprise procurement cycles. You bring structure and strategic thinking to every deal—backed by deep familiarity with Salesforce, sales tools like Gong and LeadIQ and proven frameworks like MEDDIC or SPIN.
- You’re an exceptional communicator, able to simplify complex solutions and make a compelling case for change across technical and executive audiences. You lead with value and execute with precision.
- You’re also a disciplined operator—you plan your quarters, manage your pipeline with intent, and take ownership of results. While you’re collaborative by nature, you’re more than capable of driving your own success.
In addition:
- Several years of enterprise sales experience, with solid experience in Patent and Intellectual Property (IP) marketplace
- Strong familiarity with Patent and IP data platforms, and technology needs in the research space.
- A proven ability to meet or exceed $1M+ quotas annually.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Patent and IP or technical background preferred.
Don't worry if you don't meet every qualification—let us be the judge! Studies show that many qualified candidates from under-represented groups hesitate to apply unless they meet every single requirement. We are dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive team and strongly encourage you to submit your application.
