Brief Description
To support the clienting of Network Rail strategy for new high-speed routes, including the integration of the HS2 project with the national rail network. Network Rail is involved in the delivery of two types of works – HS2 works on Network Rail’s network (On Network Works) and Asset Protection. Working with sponsors and project managers the role includes primarily drawing up agreements for the delivery of On Network Works.In addition, working with the wider team,the formation of structures agreements is required where assets which have been constructed by HS2 Ltd under an Asset Protection agreement and are due to be handed back to Network Rail. Periodic reporting of progress and the identification and resolution of any issues. The successful candidate will have good interpersonal skills, driven and an ability to work with a variety of people .
About The Role (External)
Key Accountabilities
- Work as part of the client team to support the clienting, development and implementation of projects to meet client needs. Manage the development, engagement, safety and welfare of yourself and your team, including sharing any lessons learnt.
- Support formal agreement and delivery of client outputs and requirements. Support implementation of clienting and sponsorship requirements. Monitor progress of key issues such as funding, programme and milestones, budgets, risks, safety, regulatory issues, commercial, operational, for projects. Support development of opportunities for NR and the client within each project. Prepare reports, presentations, and other information as required.
- Implement effective relationships with the client and stakeholders, Network Rail and the industry as a whole. Actively support maintaining these relationships and identify early warning of delivery concerns and risks to the project.
- Implement the required NR standard processes and procedures for projects, including change control, particularly in respect of clienting and sponsorship.
- Support project compliance and assurance processes, including those related to safety, investment, change, agreements, legal and corporate affairs.
- Support the process of discharge of the duties assigned to the NR Client as detailed within the Construction, Design and Management Regulations for all projects. Support the management of client related NR safety processes and procedures.
- Support implementation of the governance framework for projects, aligned to company standards and procedures. Escalation of project issues which require intervention and / or arbitration. Contribute towards continual project improvements and identify areas of best practice.
- Provide support and implement special projects as required by the Programme Sponsor.
In order to be successful in this role, we would like you to have/to be :
- Proven experience in project management and sponsorship
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Some understanding of commercial and financial awareness
- Intermediate Skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
We would also like but it isn’t crucial to have/to be :
- Experience of managing/drawing up contracts
- Good working knowledge of excel
- Educated to HNC/HND or degree level or similar standard.
- Membership of a professional body (or working towards)
- Knowledge / understanding of the railway industry.
- Advanced PowerPoint skills

Salary: £35,582- £42,218 per annum, pro rata. Depending on experience.

As this is a role in a regional team, travel to London will also be required approx. 1 day per week.
