About The Role

Are you working in an academic lab and looking for your first role in industry? Are you currently an In Vivo Scientist with some experience in industry? We are looking for a talented Scientist I or Scientist II level candidate to join us at Insmed Cambridge. You will work cross functionally to support all aspects of early target identification, target validation, and drug discovery programs. You will thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, multidisciplinary team with the mission of validating proprietary targets and contributing to drug discovery programs that will impact patients living with neurodegenerative, neuroinflammatory & cardiovascular rare diseases.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with program leads and senior leadership team on overall in vivo project plans.
• Support the design, implementation, and evaluation of in vivo studies (both in house as well as with CROs) to enable target identification, target validation and drug discovery across different projects.
• Plan and execute lab-based work followed by review and analysis of endpoint data including characterization of mouse models (both via image and behavior methods), efficacy studies and small-scale PK/PD studies, etc.
• Prepare study reports, summaries and regulatory documents.
• Establish strong working relationships with vivarium staff, CROs and academic partners to collaborate and foster information exchange and to enable efficient execution of work packages consistent with program needs.
• Provide guidance and support for internal stakeholders on study design and data analysis and best location to execute these studies (either internal or by identifying suitable CROs to outsource these studies).
• Lead continuous improvement activities, applying problem solving skills to identify workflow efficiencies and implementing technology solutions to enhance processes.

Who You Are

• Expertise gained in either an academic lab or in industry working with in vivo models with both in-house & with external partners.
• Qualifications and experience in relevant disease biology-neurodegenerative, neuroinflammatory or cardiovascular. Exercises judgment in selecting suitable animal models, methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to support projects.
• Current UK Home Office Licence holder with proven in vivo experience and experimental skills working with animal models. In-depth understanding of requirements around regulated procedures and Home Office licence requirements, providing welfare advice and support for ongoing projects.
• Expertise in tissue collection and processing, mouse model characterization such as behavior phenotyping and/or image-based analysis & complex dosing routes such as IT, ICV, ICM and placement of cannulation for repeat dosing in mouse would be advantageous.
