Brief Description
Lead Our Infrastructure Maintenance Team
We're looking for a skilled and motivated leader to manage our Infrastructure Maintenance delivery team. In this key role, you'll ensure that inspection, maintenance, and renewal activities meet required standards—safely, efficiently, and on budget. You'll take ownership of team performance, safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness, delivering results that align with our business goals.
About The Role (External)
As a Section Manager, you’ll lead and manage Infrastructure Maintenance teams and contractors to deliver against key business objectives and performance targets. You’ll play a vital role in developing staff competence, supporting their welfare, and fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring all work is delivered safely and in full compliance with policies, procedures, and CDM Regulations. Promoting a strong safety-first mindset, you’ll oversee safe working practices across all maintenance and renewal activities.
Your focus will also include delivering efficient and standards-compliant maintenance of infrastructure assets. This involves managing inspections, faulting, and renewal work, while monitoring quality and performance to drive continuous improvement and long-term reliability.
In addition, you’ll develop work plans, allocate resources, and maintain accurate records across systems to support effective planning and asset management. Your ability to manage information and resources will be key to ensuring safe, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery.
Experience, skills, knowledge and competencies:
- Experience of managing and directing a team.
- Experience of team leadership and development.
- Experience of managing the production and delivery of a comprehensive and compliant work programme.
- Able to demonstrate, promote and embed safe working behaviours within the team.
- Able to lead and implement change and improvement initiatives.
- Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Able to coach, influence and develop others.
- Knowledge of signalling maintenance and construction management processes, systems and standards.
- Knowledge of budget management and cost/waste control processes and techniques.
- Knowledge of the Construction, Design and Management Regulations.
- Hold and retain competencies relevant to this post and required by business need.
- Ideally hold (or be working towards) an NVQ level 3 or 4 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject or have attained the appropriate level of knowledge gained through equivalent relevant experience.
- Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.
