About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to become an integral part of our Security Team at the London Borough of Hounslow as a Security Officer. In this pivotal role, you’ll be at the heart of ensuring the safety and security of Hounslow House, its staff, visitors, and assets.
You’ll work as part of a professional team on an allocated shift, reporting directly to the Security Lead Officer, who manages the day-to-day operations with a strong emphasis on customer service, incident response, and maintaining a safe environment for everyone.
As a Security Officer, you’ll play a key role in delivering a high-quality frontline service for Hounslow House residents and visitors. From patrolling the building and grounds, managing access control, and operating CCTV systems, to maintaining accurate records of incidents and lost property, your work will be essential to keeping the building secure and welcoming.
You’ll also be responsible for ensuring safety standards are upheld by proactively identifying hazards, supporting emergency evacuations, and confidently managing challenging or disruptive behaviour. With your approachable manner and calm professionalism, you’ll assist customers at reception, provide clear information, and signpost them to the services they need.
This is an opportunity to further develop your operational and customer service skills in a dynamic, supportive environment. You’ll be encouraged to take initiative, contribute to a positive team culture, and participate in ongoing training in areas such as conflict resolution, first aid, and health and safety.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In
Joining the Security Team at the London Borough of Hounslow, you’ll become a key part of a group deeply committed to ensuring the safety and security of Hounslow House—a central hub for council staff, councillors, services, and the community it serves. Our team’s primary aim is to create a secure, welcoming environment for everyone who visits and works within Hounslow House, from the main public areas to the library and event spaces. The impact of our work is felt daily by residents and staff alike, who rely on us to help keep them safe and supported during their time in the building.
As a Security Officer, you will work alongside a dedicated team of colleagues under the guidance of the Lead Security Officer and the Security Manager. Your role will involve close collaboration with the Facilities Management team and other council services to deliver a professional, responsive security presence throughout the building.
You will report to the Lead Security Officer, who will provide guidance and support as you carry out your responsibilities. Together, we strive not only to protect physical assets and individuals but also to contribute positively to the community’s experience of Hounslow House, reinforcing its status as a safe, accessible, and inclusive space for everyone. This collective effort ensures our contribution goes beyond security, supporting the council’s ability to serve the public and fostering a sense of confidence and community within Hounslow.
In this role, your professionalism, vigilance, and commitment will be instrumental in maintaining the high standards of service the public expects. Your work will help ensure that we remain responsive to the needs of the borough and continue to make a positive difference to all who visit and work in Hounslow House.
About You

As a key member of our security team, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors, staff, and partners at Hounslow House. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in protecting others and excels in a customer-facing role.
Essential Requirements:
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence
- Valid SIA CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) Licence
- Current First Aid Certificate
Desirable Skills And Experience:
- A strong customer service ethos, ensuring all guests feel welcome, respected, and safe.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including council staff, members of the public, and external partners.
- A calm, proactive, and professional approach to problem-solving, with the ability to assess situations quickly and respond appropriately.
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, physical security systems and health and safety procedures.
- Strong organisational skills to manage daily responsibilities such as patrolling, incident reporting, and maintaining accurate records.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and a desire to grow within the field of security.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a security role, ideally within a customer-facing environment.
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals, demonstrating a compassionate and empathetic approach.
- Sensitivity and emotional intelligence when handling challenging or confidential situations.
