We have an exciting opportunity for a SEMH Reintegration Practitioner to join our Exclusions and Reintegration Team at West Berkshire Council.
About The Role
As a SEMH Reintegration Practitioner, you will work collaboratively with the Manager, Exclusions and Reintegration Team to provide support and guidance to students who are experiencing difficulties in their education due to social, emotional, and mental health needs. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Working directly with students to facilitate their reintegration into mainstream education
- Providing one-to-one support to address barriers to learning and promote positive behaviour
- Collaborating with schools, parents, and external agencies to ensure effective support is in place
- Conducting assessments of individual needs and implementing appropriate interventions
- Monitoring progress and providing regular feedback to stakeholders
- Delivering group interventions to promote social skills and emotional resilience
- This is a fixed-term contract until 31st March 2026, with the possibility of extension depending on funding and service requirements.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Experience working with young people who have SEMH difficulties
- Knowledge of effective strategies for supporting behaviour change and emotional well-being
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and professionals
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage a diverse caseload
- A relevant qualification in education, youth work, or a related field would be advantageous.
This role is fixed term until 31.03.26 – Funding limited project

You will only be required to work during term time when the establishment is in session. You will not be entitled to annual leave during term time, payment for which is reflected in your salary. Entitlement to paid annual leave increases by 5 days after completing 5 years continuous service with one or more Authority by 1 April which is the commencement of the leave year. If a part month is worked at the beginning or end of your employment the amount payable will be adjusted to reflect the number of days actually worked in that particular month.
