Job Title: Semi-Skilled Metal Fitter
Location: Primarily within Greater London

About the Role:
We are looking for a motivated and skilled Semi-Skilled Fitter to join our team. In this role, you will work directly with the Experienced Metal Fitter, assisting them with the installation and fabrication of various metal structures such as railings, handrails, balustrades, and stairs. The ideal candidate should have at least one year of experience in metalwork, with a solid understanding of using hand tools and basic welding techniques. You’ll be an integral part of the team, learning and developing your skills while contributing to the successful completion of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assisting Skilled Fitters: Work alongside high-skilled metal fitters to assist with the installation of metal structures, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to high standards.
· Using Hand Tools: Safely operate and maintain various hand tools (e.g., drills, grinders, saws, measuring tools) to support installation and fabrication tasks.
· Basic Welding: Use basic welding techniques (MIG or TIG) to assist with metal joints and fabrication work. Perform welding under the supervision of experienced fitters.
· Installation Support: Help with the installation of railings, handrails, balustrades, stairs, gates and other metal structures, ensuring that components are properly aligned and fitted.
· Site Preparation: Assist in preparing the site by organizing tools, materials, and equipment, ensuring everything is ready for the day’s tasks.
· Material Handling: Assist in the safe lifting, handling, and transportation of materials and tools to and from the worksite.
· Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in good condition, cleaning them regularly and reporting any issues promptly.
· Workplace Safety: Follow health and safety guidelines, using personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring a safe working environment for both yourself and the team.
· Learning & Development: Continuously improve your skills and knowledge under the guidance of skilled fitters, learning advanced techniques and processes to progress in the role.
· Site Cleanliness: Help keep the worksite clean and organized throughout the day, ensuring that tools, materials, and debris are properly managed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
· CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
· Full UK Driving License (Ability to travel to various locations across London)
· Experience: At least 1 year of experience in metalwork, ideally in a construction or installation environment.
· Basic Welding Knowledge: Familiarity with welding techniques (MIG/TIG) and an understanding of their application in metal installation.
· Hand Tool Proficiency: Good knowledge of using hand tools (e.g., grinders, drills, saws, and measuring tools).
· Physical Fitness: Capable of handling the physical demands of the role, including lifting materials and working in varying weather conditions.
· Team Player: Ability to work well as part of a team, assisting skilled fitters and supporting the overall installation process.
· Communication Skills: Basic verbal communication skills to interact effectively with team members and report any issues that arise on-site.
· Problem-Solving: A basic understanding of troubleshooting common issues that might arise during installations, with a willingness to learn from experienced fitters.
· Health & Safety Awareness: Understanding of basic site safety protocols and the ability to follow them closely.
