Kirklees Council are advertising this role on behalf of Fable House

Fable House is an independent provision in Huddersfield supporting students aged 11–21 with complex autism profiles, including demand avoidance and long histories of educational trauma.

We are looking for multiple Candidates, part time and full time roles can be discussed

Ideal start date beginning of September.

Our Values

  • A safe and nurturing environment where students feel valued, confident and supported
  • A focus on emotional wellbeing, self-regulation, and lifelong healthy habits
  • Empowering students with skills for life, learning and the future

We are looking for a thoughtful, adaptable and emotionally attuned SEND Tutor to join our specialist team.

This post is focused on working with our KS4 and KS5 learners, many of whom have had long periods out of education or experienced multiple placement breakdowns. You will play a key role in delivering Functional Skills English and Maths as well as our creative, project-based curriculum, alongside supporting students through therapeutic interventions led by our qualified professionals.

What makes this role different?

  • You will work in a truly trauma-informed, neurodivergent-affirming setting, using approaches like P.A.C.E. and co-regulation as the foundation of your relationships with students.
  • You'll help students reconnect with learning and rediscover trust in education — often for the first time in years.
  • You’ll work in a small, values-led team with time and space to reflect, collaborate and grow.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Understands that all behaviour is communication and responds with curiosity, not control.
  • Is confident working within a trauma-informed, relationship-led approach using P.A.C.E.
  • Has experience delivering Functional Skills English and Maths, with the creativity and flexibility to personalise learning journeys.
  • Can deliver project-based learning that integrates life skills, creativity, and real-world application.
  • Can support students to engage in therapeutic programmes and interventions.
  • Believes in radical acceptance of others, developing resilience through being supported through real-life experiences, and celebrating all successes — big or small.

To apply, please complete our application form. For informal enquiries or to arrange a visit, please contact Fable House on 01484 362176
