Senior Accounts Payable Specialist

About the Role
Cobalt are seeking a seasoned Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to manage the end-to-end AP function (sole role) within a multi-site, premium service environment. This role is suited to someone who thrives in a setting where commercial discipline meets compassionate values.
You’ll have full autonomy over the AP function and play a key part in maintaining the smooth financial operation of a business known for its exceptional standards, discreet service, and high-performing culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the entire Accounts Payable process, from invoice intake and coding through to authorisation, payment, and reconciliation.
- Process circa 150 supplier invoices per week across multiple sites, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and service quality.
- A strong communicator who is confident liaising with key stakeholders.
- Oversee regular payment runs, maintain ledgers, and reconcile accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting and cash flow management.
- Work cross-functionally with procurement, operations, and site teams to support timely approvals and budget adherence.
- Lead month-end tasks including journals, accruals, and AP reports as part of a broader finance function.
- Support continuous improvement and controls development within the AP process balancing accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
About You
- Experienced AP professional with a track record in high-service, multi-site environments—e.g. hospitality, healthcare, or premium consumer services.
- Either QBE (Qualified by Experience) or part-qualified AAT / CIMA / ACCA.
- Commercially minded, with a proactive approach to process improvement, supplier management, and internal stakeholder engagement.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a respectful and empathetic approach in a people-first organisation.
- Comfortable working with discretion, pace, and a commitment to excellence in all things.
- Technically strong with advanced Excel skills and experience in accounting or ERP systems.
